Learning a little every day does not compound over time when the little pieces are not themselves expressed in a consistent way. All it does is accumulate in a pile, which collapses under its own weight periodically.

A city grows to millions of households. They are in one city but mostly not related. So, what? Just visit and memorize it all and it will make sense? Much of linux is completely irrelevant to what you are doing, or want to do. So focus on what you want to do, not just memorize more stuff because you started doing it for some reason.
