Thank you for finding and sharing a few pieces of various puzzles. I must say I am tired of incomplete pictures, which I think comes from astronomers all fighting for precedence, shock and media fame. A continuous stream of “ooh aah” just gets tiresome. Do you remember when you were a baby and your parents played peek-a-boo with you? It gets boring very quickly. There is only so much surprise you can squeeze out of “there is something wonderful hidden in the sky”, “here is is!!”. I would much rather have a clear inventory, statistics, clear maps and simulations.
Having whole groups of people hogging the eye pieces and data from telescopes and sensors has never seemed fair. They are saying, “We are smart, you’re dumb, so you have to wait for us insiders to explain it to you”.
Words are inadequate anyway, just show the data. Show the models, put the data and models where every humans on earth can see it and use it. I do not want to eat left overs, or predigested pablum. Science is not a side show. It is not mysterious or complex, it is just new sometimes. And with True AIs, they can help explain how to find the data and use it in all the ways that have been found and used, and let you make your own.
You have done a lot. You are doing a lot. Thank you. But it is not enough, when there is this whole “mysteries and complexity” thing going on. With large doses of “We’re smart and you’re dumb, and only full time workers in certain groups are allowed”. That is not open science; it is groups trying to create and maintain monopolies for their own benefit. Often at public expense.
I hope one day all knowledge will be open, lossless and immediately accessible to all humans, no matter their age or background. I have never liked priesthoods and inner circles and “we are the only ones to explain inner mysteries”
