Wolfram, Mathematics over all, contrast, Chat Wolfram GPT

Your pages are all too low contrast for me to read. Please give a way to change the weight, contrast and colors of all things. Lines and equations, text and anything. Enlarging is not sufficient when the contrast does not meet ADA. It is not size as much as thickness. You guys can easily find “contrast”.

I was looking for an outline of all Mathematics. Some overview of what Wolfram covers and where mathematicians have put their efforts, what they consider important. I could try to ask an AI, but they actually do not know math at all, except examples they copy. Your Wolfram GPT in OpenAI has lots of errors and omissions. I cannot tell if it is GPT or GPT as you used it, or the blind black box way they use it and NEVER show their work. You get mystery answers, which is not math or science or pleasant at all.

Just this much and I have a headache. All day on the Internet and other pages do not cause such eye stain.

Thanks. I am getting pretty tired. After nearly 26 years of the Internet Foundaton, I do not have the patience I did even a year ago. Mathematics ought to be open to all humans using the Internet. The core of it, including what many learn in high school – calculus, algrebra, trigonometry, linear algebra, differential equations, applied mathematics, computer aided math – is not particularly hard for symbolic math tools these days. It was 60 years ago when I started, but now there are apps, albeit rather scattered.

I think my main motivation for computer-aided math the last 20 years has been to help me proof and verify papers and methods. Because I review content and developments in all subjects on the Internet, if I encounter a paper or website or group using any computer models, they will have their favorite math methods and usually some kind of mathematics toolkits. I have always been able to simply “do it from scratch” or “first principles” – constant practice almost daily for 60 years.

But the people in the world, about 8.1 Billion cannot be forced to store those details, — just to read someone’s paper on a different subject. Everyone who writes STEMC (always include computing) and many other papers will throw in a bit of “maths” and mostly it is just pixels on the screen, or ink on paper where the delay is human recognition and recall. What I recommend it “have the computer do it” and now use methods with all human languages supported — so that a new person is automatically guided at a slower pace if they ask, and the computer answers and demonstrates. A human might want to watch the steps in a mathematics derivation, or to step through an algorithm debug. But often now, “Computer, is there anything obviously wrong or missing from this paper?”

I tried a few years ago to ask Wolfram to help Wikipedia put ALL the math and computing there into tool form so that rather than “pixels on the screen” it is “living intelligent mathematics” that visitors and users can actually use. My favorite “bad” example is ((“FFT” OR “Fourier transform”) site:wikipedia.org) with 47.800 entry points today. And nowhere in there is a place to drag an image or sound to have it generate the FFT and show you what it is for real things. If humans can gather and organize text, they can also gather and organize science, technology, engineering. mathematics, computing, finance, and countless quantitative methods where the mathematics is compiled and verified and computed, and demonstrated gently and wisely.

But I am so tired these days, tired of saying the same things to people and groups. I am wrapping up and working on just a few hundred things, not tens of thousands. I cannot force Wolfram to care about “those unwashed who cannot afford our products” but it is is the right thing to do. And a more lasting legacy than “we made a lot of money selling stuff to specialists at high prices.” That is my view from the outside. I have watched and investigated Wolfram since it was born.
